FWIW ... the mutt mailer is distributed with a regular expression
package, for use by those whose local reg exp lib is busted, etc.
Recently, the mutt distribution was changed *from* using "rx" (which
I do believe *is* Henry's lib), to a different lib package because
of too many nitsy problems with rx.
I *think* the switch was to "regexp" (which I *think* is what is commonly
called the gnu reg exp lib), but I haven't fetched a new distribution
in quite some time, so I may be mistaken on which new lib was adopted
in lieu of "rx".
As may be, I think an auxiliary lib should be a configure-time option,
with the default being to use the platform's native reg exp lib, unless
specified otherwise.
