There are other clicks that may have other effects, and it all depends
on whether lynx is compiled with ncurses, slang, or running in
DOS(?)/Windows. "click with button-1 on links" may be nearly the only
thing those have in common. Maybe clicking on top/bottom line also has
the same effect for all constellations.

What console? Assuming you mean linux:
It can work with ncurses on a linux console if and only if ncurses has
been compiled with gpm support (pre-compiled binary libs usually aren't)
and a gpm daemon is running.
