But Philip,

You overlooked the key fact in the original message.  The father's ISP
is Demon in UK.

Do we have any system-savvy Demon users on the list?

What are the father's options with Demon?  Is he really stuck in DOS?  Is
he already trained and happy with his DOS screen reader?  Have thy 
contacted the RNIB or Peter Bosher's outfit -- Blind Computer Users (in UK)?
I suspect that between these sources the right kind of help can be found.
