These lines in lynx.lss refer to "default", which is implemented by
ncurses and slang:
tt:dim:brightmagenta:default
small:dim:default
td:normal:default
br:normal:default
#normal:normal:default:blue
font.letter:normal:default:blue

generally that doesn't specify color.
