I reformatted it, taking the opportunity to use what has become my 
preferred patch format: "git format-patch".

In general I recommend using a tool like git to prepare patches instead 
of diffing directories. It's less error-prone and encourages 
standardization.

Also, please submit this patch upstream if appropriate. If so, let us 
know the URL where it can referenced and we'll add that to the patch 
file here.
