yeah, I tend to agree with this position. I'm very sympathetic to 
perceived "ugliness" in the command line; I added in selectors as an 
early attempt to let people play with solving this UI problem. you can 
make new selectors yourself using the hook, if you want to play around 
with it. but I think we don't know quite enough about needs, to be doing 
much more than that, at the moment.
