Agreed.  But it might work if a lua hook is providing your passphrase
(I haven't tested this.)  
Personally I can live without the ability to read the cert value
from stdin.  But limiting providing the cert value to the command
line might impose artificial limits, imposed by your shell, on the value.

The only reason I brought this up was to let you know that this
behaviour might be confusing.  

Oh, and I hope you don't mind me sending all this tiny issues to 
the mailing list.  It is not that I want to complain, just
to let you know what a user encounters :-)

BTW I noticed there is a bug tracking system on savannah,
however it does not seem well maintained, lots of bugs
are still Open but AFAICT the functionality is already in
for a long time.
