Hm. Right, you got me.
Well, and most notable: this follows the ".pub"-style people are already used to since years from SSH and similar applications.
I agree that the extensions pub and prv are clear enough and very common. How to store unencrypted private keys?
Another thing to keep in mind: what if the user erroneously mixes ssh and monotone keys?
