Hi all,

thanks again for the pointers, but it looks like the bug wasn't in the 
LCS code, but rather in normalize_extents(). Phew!

I've tested my fix (a one liner) against all the current tests. 
Unfortunately it fixed only my test_a_merge_8 one, but at least it 
didn't break anything else. ;-)
