Debian Bug#198946.
I got this report once, I couldn't reproduce. Asked many, many people to
try it, unsuccessful. It ended being closed by mistake, and never
reopened. Later on I noticed the gentoo bugs so I knew it really was a
bug, but I've never seen it myself.
May it be related to the nano.save emergency save? Can you attach an
strace or a gdb to the running process?
