Right.  (Plus the fourth circumstance, of course: the option is given:
-Z, --zap, or 'set zap'.)

Hmmm...  Yes, M-Del might work, it seems to produce a distinct escape
sequence, at least on Xfce4-terminal, and it's unlikely that we'd want
to use this key combo for something else.  (M-Bsp, though, produces
absolutely nothing, so it will be M-Del only.)
