Follow-up Comment #6, bug #30681 (project octave):
The lack of a explicit default font has been a long term problem. Is there
some open-source font that can be bundled with Octave?
A True-Type font would be best for the current implementation of the gnuplot
backend. Are True-Type font's compatible with postscript and FLTK?
Gnuplot can be made aware of bundled font by modifying GDFONTPATH during
startiup.
