Follow-up Comment #8, bug #31906 (project octave):

When I've had problems with tests failing, I've tried changing the level of
optimization. Sometimes I got different results with Apple's gcc than had been
reported by those using gcc on Linux, mingw, etc. However, at the present time
both "-O2" and "-O0" result in one test failure.

>>>>> processing
/Users/bpabbott/Development/mercurial/local_clone/src/mappers.cc
  ***** assert(arg (single(-1)), single(pi));
!!!!! test failed
assert (arg (single (-1)),single (pi)) expected
 3.1416
but got
 3.1416
values do not match

Thus, I think changing the optimization level to "-O2" is a good idea.

I also like the idea of asking a MacPorts user to add to the Readme.MacOS
file.

Michael Godfrey prefers to avoid the package managers (Fink & MacPorts) and
has posted his instructions
<http://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/attachment/1645244/0/Octave_install_8_Jan_2010.txt>
for building Octave to the list.

If you'd like me to take care of any of these, please let me know.
