No, I have exactly the same problem with octave 3.4.0:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x00002aaaabb14508 in sigemptyset () from
/u/mc/Download/new/octave-3.4.0/src/.libs/liboctinterp-3.4.0.so
(gdb) where
#0  0x00002aaaabb14508 in sigemptyset () from
/u/mc/Download/new/octave-3.4.0/src/.libs/liboctinterp-3.4.0.so

I'm using gcc 4.1.2 on Scientific Linux SL release 5.5. It might be an issue
with the gcc version. I tried octave 3.4.0, on a more recent machine (gcc
4.4.3) without a problem.
