Follow-up Comment #10, bug #34850 (project octave):

After a bit more testing it appears that it is OK 
to use transpose() rather than hermitian() when the
operation is applied twice:

A  = randn (4) + i * randn (4);
As = A' * A;

all (all (chol (triu (As'), 'upper')'  == ...
          chol (triu (As.'), 'upper').'))

ans = 1

so the attached patch works.
Salvatore, would you be able to test it too?
