Details:
On Ubuntu (11.10 32 bit) and MinGW
test of file-io.cc were in failure.

assert(sscanf('1,2', '%f', 'fr_FR'), 1.2)
!!!!! test failed
assert (sscanf ('1,2', '%f', 'fr_FR'),1.2) expected
1.2000
but got
1
values do not match
The above is the Ubuntu result. The result on the MinGW is the same.
The failure seems to be independent of the platform.
