Follow-up Comment #28, bug #35852 (project octave):

I guess, since stringstreams are backed with a string, they are not buffered
and therefore do not show the issue.
I've tested your program with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 compiler and MinGW
4.5.3. Just for fun, I tried Cygwin gcc 4.6.2. All of them produced exactly
the same file (see attachment), except for the Cygwin which created a file
with Unix line-endings and the other two a file with Windows line-endings.
