Thanks so much.  I checked in your changeset here
(http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/0a868d90436b).  I ended up
changing the way betainc worked to use the superclass Array rather than Matrix
or NDArray.  Thus, I went ahead and changed betaincinv to work the same way. 
I also added trivial support for class single variables
(http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/67897baaa05f).
