Follow-up Comment #15, bug #35511 (project octave):
I attached a patch for test and review.
Here is a summary of the remaining issues I can see:
* image: as factory x/ydata are empty, trying to reset an image won't work.
This will be fixed with bug #42121
* root: reseting root properties removes all default properties set not only
by the user but also by the graphics_toolkit. This may cause troubles with
subsequent figures.
