Follow-up Comment #3, bug #48604 (project octave):
It looks like it could be an issue with the bzip2 package in mxe-octave
It has probally always been there, but adding the explicit link in of bz2 in
default octave makes the issue show up.
I have a changeset for mxe - will push up if it works ok.
