Follow-up Comment #25, bug #45494 (project octave):

SVG: eog (eye-of-gnome) viewer handles SVG.  For that renderer, the
shape-rendering="crispEdges" hint gets rid of the cracks.  Probably just
Inkscape where hints don't affect anything--it's more of an editor than a
viewer.
