Details:

Sample Code:

demo mesh 1

The surface is supposed to be white, but is shown as a sickly yellow on my
screen.

h = get (gca, "children")
get (h, "facecolor")
ans =

   1   1   1

The demo works correctly with gnuplot, or with version 4.2.1
