Follow-up Comment #2:

I think it is enough to be able to change the text via context menu, which
works for me:
* plot something
* enable "insert text" mode
* draw a rectangle with mouse
* enter the original text in the pop up dialog and validate to have the text
drawn
* disable the "insert text" mode
* right click on the text annotation and click text>string to obtain a popup
dialog that will let you change the text.

Would we expect better (on-canvas editing?) or can we close this report?
