Follow-up Comment #2, bug #52410 (project octave):

I think it is in Octave.  Using the same Qhull library on my machine, the
4.0.3 version of Octave works while the 4.2.1 version and development versions
fail.

My guess is that when there is an error Octave is no longer clearing internal
state in Qhull before calling the library again.
