Matlab's eig function accepts an option pair which sets the return value
structure of the eigenvalues. The name of the option is "eigvalOption" and it
accepts values "vector" and "matrix". Thus the following code:

[evc,evl] = eig(A,'vector');

returns the eigenvalues evl as a column vector instead of a diagonal matrix.
On the other hand the code:

evl = eig(A,'matrix');

returns a diagonal matrix of eigenvalues.
Could this option be included in Octave's eig function, too?
