Follow-up Comment #12, bug #52757 (project octave):

I think I can reproduce it on another computer. 
If I hit Ctrl-C it echoes it multiple times and the core dumps:

./run-octave --no-gui -f -q
octave:1> version 
ans = 4.3.0+
octave:2> ^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C^C
octave:2> *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated
Aborted (core dumped)

I see the following in journalctl:
