Follow-up Comment #9, bug #53023 (project octave):
That issue ccame up some time ago -- default print always goes through
ghostscript. -dpdflatexstandalone goes directly to pdf.
Pantxo Diribarne has some explanation why, but I forgot the details and I
cannot find the thread.
