Follow-up Comment #11, bug #53073 (project octave):

The very simplest fix is probably to put in a drawnow() or some such call
after the print has completed.  That would quickly resolve what we are seeing.
 It wouldn't be much of a performance hit since print isn't exactly a critical
function like matrix multiply.

Still, the FLTK toolkit mananges not to have this issue so it should be
possible to prevent the Qt toolkit from exhibiting this as well.
