There are two issues with the font selection in the Variable Editor
Preferences tab.

First, when "Use Terminal Font" checkbox is checked, whatever is in the Font
dialog box immediately to the left is unused.  It would be useful to gray out
the Font and Font Size widgets when the terminal font is being used.

Second, on my system the list dialog for Font always shows "Liberation Mono". 
I can change the font to something else, and the Variable Editor uses the
correct new font, but if I re-open the Preferences it shows the Font as
"Liberation Mono" again, even though that is not what the GUI is actually

As an example, I changed the font to URW Chancery L which is a cursive font
and very recognizable.  When I open the V.E. Preferences tab I see the
following attached screenshot.
