Follow-up Comment #5, bug #53456 (project octave):

Yes a warning would be good. So if you remove the limit, Octave singles will
still display with 8 digits and doubles with 16 digits even if the limit is
set to 20 or 100?

I can see how having the option of a larger limit could still be useful to
other user types and functions.
