Follow-up Comment #10, bug #53443 (project octave):

I printed out the "type" of the QVariant, i.e.,

std::cerr << "type: " << tbar->tabData (i).type () << "\n";

It indicates QMetaType::ULongLong, i.e., 5.  See, Qt has all these rules that
the QVariant of type X can be converted to type A, D, F, etc., otherwise the
value is 0.  The question to me is how the developers created a QVariant of
type QMetaType::ULongLong from a QWidget *?  If one can do that, it's done.
