Follow-up Comment #2, bug #53645 (project octave):
Apologies if my response was a little confusing.
If this is the first time you are build with '--enable-octave=stable', then
you might not have realized, but you don't need to run 'make hg-octave-dist'.
Just './configure --enable-octave=stable' and 'make', or 'make zip-dist' or
'make nsis-installer', whichever you need.
The 'hg-octave-dist' target is only for building the development version of
Octave and isn't needed at all to build the stable release.
I hope that was clearer.
