Follow-up Comment #64, bug #53733 (project octave):
Interesting indeed. Same observations (as comment #62 and comment #63) for
release-4-2-1 compiled against java-8 respectively java-9. I tried 4.2.1
specifically because I had previously (comment #34) observed that 4.2.1
behaved differently from 4.2.2. This seems to be due only to the difference in
the java version that the Debian octave packages were built with (java-8 for
4.2.1, java-9 for 4.2.2).
