Details:
The issue has been already addressed in bug #49206
<https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?49206>. SHA1 crashes also with Octave 4.4:
$ octave-cli --version | head -n 1
GNU Octave, version 4.4.0
$ echo 'pkg load general; SHA1(3)' | octave-cli
*** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated
fatal: caught signal Aborted -- stopping myself...
Aborted
I would suggest to simply remove SHA1.cc and, perhaps, add a file inst/SHA1.m
like this:
function SHA1 (varargin)
warning ("Function SHA1 is deprecated. Please, use function hash from
Octave's core.\n");
endfunction
