Details:

The control package cannot be built in mxe-octave with octave-5.0.0 configured
with
--enable-octave=default \
--enable-binary-packages \
--enable-devel-tools \
--enable-64 \
--with-ccache

Until one or two weeks ago it just got cross-built fine.

Octave tip at 9feda91c8592 "merge stable to default"
mxe-octave at 80461a9e516c "override default xerbla with version from Octave"

Relevant part of log attached, including the last two of a long list of
deprecation warnings.
It looks a bit to me as if some include is lacking, but that's just a hunch.
