Follow-up Comment #20, bug #54216 (project octave):

Seems fine to change all .texi files to be generated from .txi files, but also
doesn't seem strictly necessary and a low priority item.

Mercurial understands what to do.  If we start tracking a file, it will show
up as (C)lean or (M)odified, but never (I)gnored or (?)nknown no matter what
the rule in .hgignore is.

The only issue I see is that you add a file, myfile.texi, while experimenting.
 This will show up as ignored, rather than unknown.
