Follow-up Comment #103, bug #54235 (project octave):

Here is an updated abs.diff patch, it replaces the previous one you were
using.

To summarize:

1. Please start by deleting the entire source tree and unpacking the tar file
from scratch.

2. Only apply abs.diff with gpatch, you can throw away pow.diff, it has
already been applied to the Octave source tree for 4.4.1 and is included in
Rik's tarball already.

3. The 'id' bug isn't that important, if you can't figure out how to make GNU
id be the default id program on your PATH, then don't worry about it.
