Follow-up Comment #39, bug #50025 (project octave):

You can now install octave with gui on macOS with: homebrew install octave
--with-qt or homebrew reinstall octave --with-qt (builds, so a bit slow).
However, it hangs when you quit and you have to force quit as well as find and
kill the process with ps aux | grep octave.

Since it's easier to install hopefully that will make it easier for someone to
debug!
