Follow-up Comment #21, bug #48273 (project octave): I thought a bit about setting a limit on the number of stacked subplots (in x and y). But, for most users just looking at the plot should be enough for them to realize whether they have tried to fit too many subplots within a single plot area. And, it is possible that someone could want the end result to be a huge poster... An intrasubplot spacing parameter may be needed? I currently do not have access to Matlab.
