Follow-up Comment #13, bug #55447 (project octave):

Furthermore, in optim, lapack is accessed directly, some symbols of it which
are not accessed by Octave. But it is crucial that the same lapack library is
linked with optim as with Octave. (Because some tolerances are requested from
lapack by optim, and these may change with the algorithm used by lapack.)

The information on which lapack library Octave is linked with was formerly
contained in LFLAGS. I don't see how to get this information after LFLAGS is
dropped. This may make an important feature of optim unavailable...(?)
