I don't use Emacs so I can't help you here. But do you want the table or 
was the old way better? If so then I guess I can create an external 
script that creates the table from a list of names (would integrate with 
Emacs though).

Aarrghh! I didn't think about HTML. This is too much of a pain. If we 
write a script to list peoples name then this script should handle such 
things, otherwise I can live with being called "Soren" :-)
