yes, you're absolutely right. Mathworks thinks differently, though...

ah, thanks for that hint! I didn't know you could switch warnings off 
selectively. Then that's a perfect solution. In this case, the 
problem is in 3rd-party code I can't/don't want to change, so using 
full file names (which is certainly the most sane method) wouldn't be 
an option. But now I simply switch off the warning and get a quiet 
console again.
