IMO, it has good potential, but still needs a lot of work.
AFAIK, this is the only one using a real terminal emulation,
such that octave behaves the same as in a plain terminal.

The reason I didn't include it this time is mainly a lack of
time to recompile it and some problems with new dependency
(like webkit). And it's also in too early stage, people usually
expects more than what it currently provides. However, I think
John is continuing work on it (debugging and integrated graphics)
so I expect that the next iteration to be more attractive.

Just out of curiosity: what was the experience with this IDE? Did it
work for people, or did it introduce more problems than it solved?

I really have been trying to work on this a little more lately. I finally have the OpenGL with GTK+ window working on my MAC with X11, so development should proceed a little more quickly now that I don't have to run a Linux virtual machine for development.

I also am in the process of putting hooks in for the debugger in the editor. I think I have solved a few crashing issues, but I'm sure there are many more. I think it doesn't make sense to have another "tech preview" until I have the debugging and integrated graphics working.
