The directive itself has not changed for gcc 4.5 so keep it as-is -
gcc's behavoiur changed, and caused quite a stir
(http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=43601). TDM's port of gcc
even included a counter-patch - but that's off topic for here I guess.
I have not run into the reported bugzilla issue with octave's dlls, so
just keep the status quo.
