Hello John,
sorry for coming late with a request ... could you please consider
incorporating the patch I uploaded to fix #34495 ? It's not totally trivial
as it adds a new member function to octave_stream, but it's only called at
three specific places. OTOH, it's a big step towards implementing locale
support in a clean way, i.e. without messing with other functions which are
locale-unaware.
