Kai,

If you also want someone to be able to look at your code you should not be 
posting it as attachments to the mailing list but rather 

1) clone Octave's mercurial repository and put it somewhere where it is 
publicly accessibly (e.g. bitbucket or sourceforge)
2) create your own branch to work on
3) push changesets to your public repo regularly 
4) pull from the default branch in the main Octave repo and merge into your 
branch very often.

I'm cc-ing our Mercurial guru Jordi to have him check if the proposed procedure 
looks right ;)
