I pulled today and compiled ok then ran octave  with  ./run-octave
it ran ok  but complained about some pkgs

so I uninstalled all the pkgs and tried to install them again and got
these errors:

make: /usr/local/bin/mkoctfile-3.7.5: Command not found
make: Entering directory `/tmp/oct-XOU8Sw/control/src'

make: /usr/local/bin/mkoctfile-3.7.5: Command not found
/bin/sh: 1: /usr/local/bin/mkoctfile-3.7.5: not found
make: *** [slicotlibrary.a] Error 127

Is this because I didn't install octave??

Doug

likely yes.
I am not aware  is possible to install the package from the
build tree
