Hello, I am new here. My name is Oleg Prutz.
I would like to translate the manual into Russian. If you consider it
useful, please give me some instructions.
I've heard that the GNU documentation is written in Texinfo format. I am not
yet familiar with Texinfo and hope for your help.
Hi Oleg

your mail got stuck on my spam box, not sure if it happened the same
for others. The problem with translating the manual and documentation
is that we don't really have anything set up to this the "right way".

But this year, a couple of people already step up and offered to
translate it to other languages. We even have two octave forge
packages that translate the help text for spanish and portuguese
(though they are very out of date). Maybe we should have something for
this? If it makes sense to translate the GUI, where there's only a
couple of very simple english words and sentences, it makes even more
sense to translate the documentation.

I suppose I need the Texinfo sources. Where can they be found?
And I would like to getinstructions about that.
