There are various ways of doing this depending on the platform.
I use an entry in the .tcshrc file. Users of other shells or systems
can choose the equivalent. I normally, being old fashioned, start
octave with --no-gui appended, but I just type the alias set in .tcshrc.
Again, the current practice makes this easy for everyone.
