Segfault when building documentation

After the recent changes from John and Rik, I'm still seeing the 
segmentation fault signal when attempting to build documentation:

  GEN      doc/interpreter/splinefit6.eps
panic: Segmentation fault -- stopping myself...
attempting to save variables to 'octave-workspace'...
save to 'octave-workspace' complete
octave exited with signal 11
  TEXI2DVI doc/interpreter/octave.dvi
/usr/bin/texi2dvi: etex exited with bad status, quitting.
make[2]: *** [doc/interpreter/octave.dvi] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/octave/octave/build1'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

make: *** [all] Error 2

Is there a fix for this?  Or should I go back to disabling documentation 
in configuration?
